restoration: C.I.B. cannonfire

Before/after of an old print of the Concord Independent Battery that my grandfather gave me to fix up. He's in there somewhere. Apparently it's grandparent week here at the PGR.
I feel there is something unintentionally hilarious about this photo, but I just can't put my finger on it.

old backyard

The backyard of the house I grew up in. I took this picture from my parents' bedroom window when I was probably about 14 or so. This continues the completely unintentional "My Brother Standing And Looking At Bodies Of Water" series, except this time his back isn't turned.

babymower

Two negatives, scratched up and combined. One negative is a picture of a baby. The other one is a close-up picture of a lawnmower part. I wish I knew what I was thinking when I created this monstrosity.

Shanghai

I've been doing a bunch of restorations lately. This is Shanghai on some 4th of July. Not the city, Shanghai's the old guy. Got a flag. Some kind of wackypack flag. The kids behind him have the right idea, but I don't know what country Shanghai thinks he's in. It's definitely not China, which is too bad because that picture would've been an awesome metaphor... for something.
The top picture is the original scanned color print. The next one is the finished retouched image, and the bottom one is just the same image cropped, to cut out all the empty space on the side. Shrubs count as empty space.

bigfoot

Back in this entry, I posted a piece I made starring this here little girl. I had found her picture on some strips of film in my grandmother's basement. I just recently re-found those negatives, and I scanned them. Here's that little girl in color, and only slightly less scratched up. I wish I knew who she was.
I also mentioned that on the same roll of film there were some pictures from a monster truck rally. I wasn't joking...
