I used to use a lot of x-rays in my artwork. Most often I'd use them in the darkroom, printing through them as if they were negatives. At one point I was going to various hospitals and asking their radiology departments if I could have a bunch of their old x-rays. The x-rays in the image above came from my dentist. They're very small x-rays of someone's teeth from all different angles, mounted in a little advent calendar-style cardboard holder. I taped it to my bedroom window and took this picture early one morning with the shade drawn and the light coming through.
My dorm room window used to look out upon a sewage treatment plant. It was really great.
There was this startlingly obese man who worked there, and I would sometimes take pictures of him as he wandered back from what I cruelly assume were pork rind runs to the nearby 7-11. For a couple of weeks I documented his subtly-changing tortured-sweatpants, primary-color mumu t-shirt and Timberlands wardrobe. This is my tribute to him.
Someone got buttons made up for my grandfather's 80th birthday party. Later that night I went over to Joshe's and he just happened to be dressed like this. You can't plan something this amazing.
